Just minutes into our event, an enthusiastic team of children in Ridgleys Field had found a new species of bush cricket - or at least, one that our resident wildlife expert, Fred Burnham, hadn't seen in the locality before. Back in the Marquee, barn owl pellets yielded tiny skeletons (mostly voles and shrews) and an observation beehive gave us a glimpse into the fascinating lives of honey bees.
