Speen Festival News
September 2009

Hello everyone
As I write this there are only a couple of days to go before the Festival starts. By now many of you will have seen that the marquee is up and looking just great, the weather forecast is looking pretty good too, oops maybe I shouldn't have said that... forget it.

If you haven't got tickets to all the events you wish to attend then I urge you to get your skates on, HONK! is pretty well sold out for Saturday with the other days fast filling. Check availability and purchase your last minute tickets to this and other events using your booking form or if it's fallen down behind the fridge, click here to download another one.

A comprehensive and lavishly illustrated souvenir programme, published in full Technicolor is now available from Speen Stores, a snip at just £2.00.

At last I have made it to the small screen, having been highjacked by a team of teenagers who interviewed me on camera about the Festival. They were taking part in SpeenFest Interactive! Speen TV workshop, organised by Ian Warr. I regret to say I was not the only person so honoured, a number of other luminaries, though I would have thought none as luminescent as myself, were interviewed and you can see the very professional results for yourselves by following this link.

Maybe a couple of events have slipped your prodigious memory, if so let me remind you? The Festival of Food - Sunday 13 September quality local food producers displaying their wares with plenty to sample as well as cookery demonstrations and a beer festival. Cosmic Quest: A History of Astronomy - Sunday 13 September everything you always wanted to know about the cosmos and beyond an illustrated and engaging talk by two leading experts in the field. Science Matters - Science and Society - Thursday 17 September your chance to ask a team of top speakers about some of the most important and pressing issues of the day.

I very much look forward to seeing you enjoying yourselves at our festival
