Speen Festival News
March 2009

Hello everyone
Speen Festival 2009 is now less than six months away! Needless to say, we've all been working flat out in recent weeks crafting and fine-tuning what will be the finest Festival yet, so to keep you all up-to-date with the very latest, here's our March update:

SpeenFest Interactive!
Speen Festival's first event is here! Developed as part of 'SpeenFest Interactive', our opening event will be Creative-Writing Challenge, a creative-writing workshop given by a professional writer for ages 16+. The workshop is planned to take place some time towards the end of April/early May at the Speen Chapel so keep an eye on your local notice board or watch out for our next Email Update for further details.

Honk!
Thank you so much to all who attended the read-throughs for HONK! There was a great turn-out and a hugely enthusiastic response to the show. We aim to get in touch with everyone who came along in early April with a view to starting music rehearsals after Easter, planned for late afternoon Wednesdays or Fridays and some Sunday afternoons. Rehearsals will take place across Speen in the most suitable or available venue! Those of you who were unable to come to the read-throughs (we know all you men were terribly busy both days), it's not too late. We take most levels of commitment and talent. We could probably enrol more little ducks and frogs and older farmyard animals and will endeavour to create a rehearsal schedule to accommodate your cameo appearance. However, we need an email asap if you'd like to sign up or find out how little you have to do: director@speenfestival.org

Helpers!
Many thanks to all who responded to our last rallying cry for helpers for all Festival events. For organisers and helpers: the Festival Committee will be hosting a fish and chip supper for you shortly, so not too late to add yourself to the list. If you'd like to help, just email Sue Taylor at secretary@speenfestival.org to tell her what you'd like to do so we have a comprehensive list. We're still looking for a team of set designers! Any volunteers...?

Thank you!
Finally, our last piece of news is that Beechdean Dairies has agreed to become one of the Festival's major sponsors. So a huge thank you to Beechdean! With their support, the Festival will continue to grow and evolve and in doing so, bring fun, entertainment and learning to an ever wider network of local communities. Bravo Beechdean!
