The Jerome Kern Story
An evening of Jazz performed by the Martin Hart Quintet featuring Vocalist Lynn Garner
Jerome Kern was christened by American Congress 'the father of American Musical Theatre', and all prominent American composers of modern theatre music, living and dead, acknowledge Kern to have been the first great native master of the genre.
Kern wrote his first songs in 1904 and composed all his life till his death in 1946. Musicians of every style loved his writing, from 'Look for the Silver Lining' to 'Smoke gets in your Eyes' and 'The Way you look tonight', plus work with Oscar Hammerstein on Showboat.
The evening presents some of his most favoured songs.
